Hey r/CredibleDefense,
From a military perspective, how effective do you think China's strategy of militarizing the islands in SCS would be in a US-China confrontation? If it is currently ineffective, do you think it will eventually reach the level necessary to deny the US navy the ability to police the region (assuming a realistic level of commitment by the US to confront China)?
I am specifically wondering about the true effectiveness of China's ballistic missile technology which can supposedly knock out carriers, as well as their submarines, air force, etc. I'm not at all well-read on military strategy and defense technology, so I am interested in hearing objective perspectives that can cut through the propaganda on both sides of this issue.
Thank you!
