Pakistan on Thursday denied any agreement with India in the Kulbhushan Jadhav case and said that any action would be taken as per the constitution to implement the decision of the ICJ. The Pakistani Foreign Ministry spokesman Mohammad Faisal’s remarks came a day after the army there said that the government was looking into various legal options to review the Jadhav case.

Faisal said that there would be no compromise. All decisions will be taken according to local laws. He said that any step to implement the decision of ICJ will be taken as per the constitution itself. During the hearing of Kulbhushan Jadhav in the International Court of Justice, India argued that Pakistan is denying its citizens diplomatic access by violating the ‘Vienna Treaty’.

Review the death penalty:
49-year-old Kulbhushan Jadhav, a retired Indian Navy officer, was sentenced to death on espionage and terrorism charges in April 2017 after a closed-door trial by a Pakistan military court. In this case, India has been saying that Jadhav was abducted from Iran. On July 17, the International Court of Justice (ICJ) ruled that Pakistan must review the death sentence awarded to Jadhav. This was seen as a major victory for India.
